Small Group Supervision - Dr Eva Balint

The NSW Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy is pleased to announce a series of small group psychodynamic supervision seminars for clinicians.

These sessions will focus on enhancing the recognition of transference, countertransference, and unconscious elements of communication in clinical work.  The sessions will be beneficial to clinicians wishing to enhance their capacity to think and work in a psychodynamic way with their patients.

A maximum of six participants will meet weekly, either in person or via video link, to present and discuss clinical material.  Participants will be expected to present process notes for consideration and discussion by the group.  The group will run for 12 weeks.

The seminar leader will be Dr Eva Balint, a senior member and previous president of NSWIPP.  She is a psychiatrist in private practice in Sydney, with extensive experience in teaching and supervision for trainees of NSWIPP and for RANZCP.  She has worked with children, adolescents, and adults, and with mothers and babies.  She has a particular interest in applying psychoanalytic thinking to severe psychological disturbance.
