The Couple and Family Psychotherapy Association of Australasia (CAFPAA) (formerly NSW Institute of Family Psychotherapy) presents:

 

“Attachment and the Couple”

With eminent Tavistock clinician and theorist Dr. Christopher Clulow

 

To be held in the Dixson Room, NSW State Library, Sydney. Entry via the Mitchell Wing entrance facing Cahill Expressway.

The conference is aimed at Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Clinical Psychologists & Psychotherapists interested in integrating Attachment  &  Object Relations Theories and applying this to their clinical and evaluative  work with couples.

Note: To assist the integration of clinical and theoretical ideas two small group processes will occur during the day.

Guest Speaker

Dr Christopher Clulow is a Senior Fellow of the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships, Founding Member and Vice Chair of the British Society of Couples Psychotherapists and Counsellors, Honorary Research Psychotherapist at the Tavistock Clinic and a Fellow of the Centre for Social Policy at Dartington. He is a Patron of Hertfordshire Central Relate and a Trustee for several charitable bodies working in the field of family support. He has authored or edited ten books and over a hundred published papers that consider marriage, partnerships, parenthood and couple psychotherapy, recently from an attachment perspective. Book titles include Sex, Attachment and Couple Psychotherapy; Adult Attachment and Couple Psychotherapy: The Secure Base in Practice and Research; Rethinking Marriage Private and Public Perspectives; Marriage: Disillusion and Hope.

Chris was Therapies Editor of the international journal Sexual and Relationship Therapy, 1996-2008, and Chair of the International Commission for Family and Interpersonal Relationships, 1987-1994. He currently sits on the editorial board of a new international journal Couple and Family Psychoanalysis – the first edition of which is due in March 2011. Chris teaches, practices and researches in Britain and overseas.

Case Presenter : Laurie Lovell-Simons is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist &  social worker. She is a member of NSWIPP, the Balint Society & CAFPAA, & works privately with individuals couples and groups.

Panelists: Dr Jenny Berg, Child & Family Psychiatrist & Dr Penny Jools, PhD & Masters of Clinical Psychology are amongst other things both are experienced couple psychotherapists & members of CAFPAA.

All sessions are in the Dixson Room other than the small groups. You will be directed to the small group rooms on the day.
