This is a FREE education initiative of the NSW Psychotherapy Educators Group. This year it is open to all trainees from NSW Psychiatry Training Networks. The Saturday Workshop Series is sponsored by the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI). Psychiatry trainees often struggle to have time to understand the importance of psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic thinking in their practice. However most
psychiatrists agree that ‘shrink think’ is essential to a meaningful and effective practice in modern psychiatry. In this workshop we will hear from consultants who have integrated aspects of psychotherapeutic thinking into their daily work.
A panel in the afternoon will give you the chance to ask everything you want to know about psychotherapy as psychiatrists, ‘but are afraid to ask’

Presenters
Dr Anne-Marie Swan is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist working in private practice and as a VMO Psychotherapy supervisor in the public sector. Dr Swan is particularly interested in the management of severe personality disorder and the integration of psychotherapy into the biopsycho- social framework of psychiatry. She is the Curriculum Co-ordinator for the NSW Programme in Advanced Training in the Psychotherapies administered by The Psychotherapies Education Association.
Dr Katie Di Marco has recently received her RANZCP Fellowship. She works as a consultant doing assessments for the Anxiety Disorders Clinic at St Vincent's Hospital and provides private telepsychiatry services for people in rural areas. She has experience with internet-based treatments, CBT and psychodynamic therapy, and is working on completing her Advanced Training in Psychotherapies.
Dr Sumitra Shankar is a psychiatrist in public practice at Royal North Shore and Prince of Wales Hospitals. She works in crisis and rehabilitation settings. She has an interest in psychodynamic therapy and is currently enrolled in the RANZCP Advanced Training Certificate in the Psychotherapies. She enjoys integrating psychodynamic thinking in public practice.
