Seminars 1 and 2: The Work of Frances Tustin (Jacqui Adler)
28 July
These seminars address the very primitive emotional states explored by Frances Tustin. Some of the unique concepts she developed through her work with autistic children are introduced. Tustin wrote about the presence of hidden autistic encapsulated states in non-autistic children and adults, and how these states, if undiscovered can hinder and impede progress in clinical work. Her work has been taken up by a number of contemporary psychoanalytic writers and clinicians and an international conference is held every two years where her ideas are further explored.
