Congress registration now open

Registration for the  2015 Congress is now open. The committee are planning an extensive and exciting program appealing to all those involved in mental health care, teaching, and research.

The 2015 Congress will take place at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC), in the heart of the beautiful city of Brisbane and is the Colleges’ premier event. Discounted registrations are available until 6 March 2015.

Introducing Keynote speakers

There is an extensive program planned for Congress that will feature keynote speakers from Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States, and will appeal to all those involved in mental health care, teaching and research.

2015 Congress keynote speakers include:

Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite

Professor Braithwaite is the Foundation Director, Australian Institute of Health Innovation, Director, Centre for Clinical Governance Research and Professor of Health Systems Research, Faculty of Medicine, University of New South Wales, Australia.

Professor Jeffrey Braithwaites’ research examines the changing nature of health systems, particularly patient safety, standards and accreditation, leadership and management, the structure and culture of organisations and their network characteristics, attracting funding of more than AUD$59 million.

Professor Braithwaite has received numerous national and international awards for his teaching and research, and more recently his article ‘Bandaid solutions don’t fix healthcare’ featured in the Australian.


Mr Noel Pearson

Mr Noel Pearson comes from the Guugu Yimidhirr community of Hopevale on South Eastern Cape York Peninsula. He is an Indigenous Australian, land rights activist and a history and law graduate of the University of Sydney. Mr Pearson is currently the Chair of the Cape York Group (CYG), an organisation promoting the economic and social development of Cape York, in North Queensland.

In 1990, Noel co-founded the Cape York Land Council and was Executive Director until 1996. In 1993, Noel acted as representative to the traditional owners in the first successful land claim.

Noel has campaigned for Welfare Reform in Indigenous communities in the Cape and was instrumental in helping establish Apunipima Health Council and Balkanu Cape York Development Corporation.
