RANZCP CPD Online Learning

 

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists have recently unveiled their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) online learning program. The program aims to offer RANZCP members upto 80 learning modules and podcasts covering a wide range of topics. The learning modules are peer reviewed and vary between 30 to 90 minutes in duration. Once completed they will count towards CPD point accumulation. New modules will be added regularly.

For those practising mainly in the area of psychotherapy, current learning modules that may be of interest include:
  • behaviour problems in the under fives
  • managing challenging behaviour
  • the assessment of personality
  • an introduction to CBT
  • the psychosocial management of deliberate self harm
  • bereavement
  • the diagnosis of personality disorder in clinical practice

 

Podcasts of interest include:
  • psychological treatment of children with eating disorders
  • CBT approaches to treatment of paranoid thoughts
  • borderline personality disorder
  • anxiety disorders in children
  • self harm
  • attachment and how it relates to psychiatry
  • empathy - what does it involve and how does it relate to psychiatry

 

Modules in development include:
  • nidotherapy
  • music therapy
  • solution-focussed brief therapy
  • introduction to cognitive analytic therapy (CAT)
  • computer delivered CBT packages
  • introducing and delivering CBT self-help in clinical services
  • working with the consequences of child abuse
  • compassion-focussed therapy

The material is mainly UK based but the College has tried to source only material relevant to the Australian setting.
